    A charity called GiveDirectly is trying to help poor people in Kenya in an unconventional way: by sending them money and then letting them do as they wish with it. GiveDirectly believes in empowering people—rather than giving recipients what charities think they need, let the people decide since they know what they need the most.  GiveDirectly uses electronic cash transfer technology, which allows them to give 93% of the donations to the families, while the other 7% is used for enrollment, follow-up, and transfer costs.

Getting Started

Once Charitable has downloaded to your computer, here’s how to get up and running:

1. In your website’s WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.
2. Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page.
3. Select the zip file you downloaded in step 1 and click Install Now.
4. After installing the plugin, you need to activate it. Click the Activate Now link after installing.

Next Steps

1. Set up your PayPal address. Go to Charitable > Settings > Payment Gateways.
2. Create your first campaign. Go to Charitable > Add Campaign.
3. Share your campaign on Facebook!
